The pit of the Spider God

If the Gnolls living in the Monastery of Kharas or the ancient evils lying in the Tombs of Durog Gurog haven't made your adventurers party wish to quit the county, here you have a third dungeon that will test their endurance... and their sanity.

The cliffs of the shore between Durog Gurog and the Dwarven city of Kriranag Gurog had always got a bad reputation, its numerous caves were used as lairs by smugglers, bandits and other law-dodging people. At least, that was the situation until a year ago, when Father Araigne, a mysterious religious leader, and his congregation decided to choose the area as their home. Nobody knows how they did, but the formed inhabitants of the caves disappeared quickly after the arrival of the holy men.

Local people was happy, it was better to have a bunch of eccentric monks as neighbors than a gag of smugglers. When some animals went missing, nobody made the link with the congregation, but when the first children began to disappear, people grew suspicious. After the fifth missing child, some villagers decided to visit the monks and ask some questions... but they never came back. The villagers believe the monks are behind all those disappearances, and they fear the situation will go worse if nothing is done. So they called their last hope, the A-team adventurers party.

What will adventurers find in the caves? A congregation of mad cultists, led by a mad priest with a mad nefarious plan: to summon a long forgotten spider god. And for it they need to feed him with blood, with lots of blood. Children blood is good for it, but adventurer's blood will do it too.

In the upper part of the dungeon, there are the living quarters of the congregation, where the twenty something cultists live. The lower part, behind a secret door or a small hanging bridge, there are a far more sinister set of rooms and corridors, today filled with giant spiders, the daughters of the spider god. He lives in the pit on the farthest room, to weak to fully manifest in the prime plane, but strong enough to offer a good challenge for the party.

The Monastery of Kharas

Not far from the Dwarven town of Durog Gurog lay the ruins of the ancient monastery of Kharas.

The sands of time have erased almost all traces of its history, and all that current Dwarven scholars can say about Kharas is that it was a small monastery of radical miner-priests who worshiped Ulaa, Dwarven goddess of Hills, Mountains, and Gemstone. According to such scholars, the sect founder had discovered a mighty artifact, the Heart of Ulaa, and created the community around it.

Nobody knows what happened to the monastery and its community, but the building and tunnels have been empty for decades, earning a reputation of haunted. The stonemanship of their builders was legendary, as the long abandoned monastery is still almost intact, and it was its military potential that made Mourga the Wild, chieftain of a tribe of Gnolls, choose Kharas as his new lair.

Since their arrival to Kharas, the Gnolls have gone bolder, and their attacks more savage. Their last raid has destroyed several farms near Durog Gurog, and the maimed bodies of their inhabitants have stricken fear and rage in the town. A bounty has been placed on the head of Mourga, and several adventurer bands have already tried to catch him without success.

What the villagers don't know is that Mourga has in his possesion the Heart of Ulaa, and that its might increases with the bloody sacrifices in each raid. If nobody stops him quickly, Mourga will soon become too powerful to be defeated...

The tombs of Durog Gurog

In the mountains near the Dwarven town of Durog Gurog there are two old tombs of long forgotten Dwarven lords. The tombs have been plundered several times and now, without any treasure to steal, they lay empty and alone... Or so they seem.

Because behind some secret doors, the tombs hide some secrets that should remain forgotten, and in the deeps of the caverns under the tombs, an ancient evil is awakening...

Post-It-Morphs

Last summer, inspired by Dyson Logos' geomorphs projects, I began my own project : the Post-It-Morphs.

Here you have the four first post-it-morphs. Style is also inspired by Dyson, I did the cross-hatching before he posted is wonderful tutorial, that let me realise why in some places my hatching didn't look right.

Raise dead blog

Once upon a time I had a blog called Playtesting.org, but Real LifeTM messed with it and the blog went undead, a shambling zombie blog living in a forgotten corner of the net...

Several weeks ago, I began to play with Ghost, a new blogging platform, and it made me want to try it with a true blog. In the same time, I had drawn several RPG maps, in the style of the great Dyson. And somewhere in my brain a light went on!

So let's cast a Raise dead blog spell and call Playtesting.org back from its grave.
